Born in Pakistan and based in New York, Salman Toor is a contemporary painter recognised for his intimate, often dreamlike depictions of everyday life. His distinctive figurative works explore identity, belonging and human connection, drawing inspiration from European Old Masters while offering a contemporary perspective on queer experience.
Characterised by expressive brushwork, luminous green tones and carefully constructed domestic scenes, Toor's paintings have established a distinctive visual language within contemporary figurative art.
For collectors, Toor represents an important voice in a generation of artists reinterpreting traditional portraiture through contemporary cultural narratives. His work offers an opportunity to engage with an artist whose practice bridges art history and present-day experience.
Toor is currently the subject of Salman Toor: Someone Like You at London's Courtauld Gallery, his first solo museum exhibition in Europe, running from 2 October 2026 to 10 January 2027. Bringing together 19 paintings alongside a selection of drawings, the exhibition marks a significant moment in his institutional recognition and offers collectors an opportunity to explore the development of his practice.
